赛犬的故事

小时候，我和我哥想要养狗，所以我爸带回来一只老灰狗。
When I was a boy, my brother and I wanted a dog, so our father took in an old greyhound.
灰狗是一种赛犬，一辈子绕着赛场一圈圈跑，追着一块做成兔子形状的毛毡。
A greyhound is a racing dog. Spends its life running in circles, chasing a bit of felt made up like a rabbit.
有一天，我们带着狗去公园，
One day, we took it to the park.
我爸警告我们说，狗的速度很快，但是...我们没忍住，
Our dad had warned us how fast that dog was, but... we coulden't resist.
我哥解开了绳子，
So, my brother took off the leash,
在那一瞬间，那条老灰狗发现了一只猫，
and in that instant, the dog spotted a cat.
看起来一定很像那块毛毡，
I imagine it must have looked just lide that piece of felt.
它冲了过去，
He ran.
我从来没看过一只老狗跑起来是那么美丽，
Never saw a thing as beautiful as that old dog... running.
直到，它抓住了那只猫，
Until, at last, he finally caught it.
在周围人惊恐的目光中，
And to the horror of everyone,
它咬死了那只小猫，
he hilled that little cat.
将其撕成碎片，
Tore it to pieces.
然后它坐在那里，不知所措，
Then he just sat there, confused.
那只狗一辈子都在努力去追逐... 那东西，
That dog had spent its whole life trying to catch that... thing.
现在他不知道该做什么了。
Now it had no idea what to do.
